ACKU (the Afghanistan Centre/Information Center at Kabul University) began as an information/archives initiative to gather, preserve and digitize Afghanistan-related materials and to promote literacy, research and public access to Afghan historical and cultural documentation. Their site describes programs (digital library/archives, literacy campaigns, research support and publications).
