

Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) is the central bank of Afghanistan. It is responsible for regulating all banking and monetary transactions within the country. Established in 1939, the bank is wholly owned by the government of Afghanistan. DAB plays a key role in shaping economic policy and promoting financial inclusion. It is an active member of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion. The bank operates approximately 52 branches across Afghanistan, including seven in Kabul, where its headquarters is located. As part of its cash management policy, individual bank customers may withdraw up to 350,000 Afghanis (approximately $5,000 USD) per week, or up to 1 million Afghanis per month. In accordance with anti-corruption and transparency measures, taxes are paid directly to Da Afghanistan Bank, and government officials are prohibited from handling tax revenue directly.
